Spas, Ljubljana, Soča promoted at ITB Berlin
The Slovenian stall, featuring 24 companies and destinations on a surface area of 185 square metres, is located in hall 17 of the ITB fair, which attracted more 175,000 visitors last year.
The focus is on Slovenia's top spa destinations, active holidays in Ljubljana as well as in the Soča river valley in the west.
Also to be promoted are two new air routes planned in 2016 between Germany and Slovenia, one between Maribor and Düsseldorf and another between Ljubljana and Köln/Bonn. Ljubljana is already connected to Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich.
Thursday will be of special importance for Slovenia, as a reception is planned in the morning for journalists which will feature Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, acting boss of the Slovenian Tourism Board Maja Pak and Slovenian Ambassador to Germany Marta Kos Marko among others.
On the same day, the unique Slovenia Green concept will be presented in the expert segment of the ITB convention as part of the Green Destination panel. A presentation of Slovenia is also planned at the premises of the Baden Württemberg state, as well as a Slovenian evening.
In 2015, a record year for Slovenian tourism when the number of visitors exceeded 10 million for the first time after independence, German visitors followed the Italians and Austrians on the visitors list. They accounted for 271,000 arrivals, which was 12% more than the year before.
ITB Berlin will run from Wednesday to Sunday, but the first three days will only be open for visitors from the industry.
