Shots of national parks at an open-air exhibition
The large-scale photographs of natural treasures such as green forests, mountain peaks, lakes, rivers and deserts will be on view at the promenade running through the park until 28 June.
The show has been inspired by the upcoming centenary of the National Park Service in the US and marks the 10th anniversary of the Slovenian language edition of National Geographic.
Talking to the STA ahead of the opening, National Geographic Slovenija editor-in-chief Marija Javornik said the photographs of US national parks come from the National Geographic archives in Washington, while the shots of the Triglav National Park had been taken by Slovenian photographers.
Slovenia's sole national park has emerged from the Alpine Conservation Park, established in 1924. It was declared national park 55 years ago and established in the current size 35 years ago.
National Geographic Slovenija has organised the exhibition with the help of financial support of the US Embassy in Slovenia and in cooperation with the city of Ljubljana.
The photographs have been selected by Arne Hodalič, a photographer and National Geographic Slovenija editor, who will guide a tour of the exhibition on 17 April.
