Ljubljana promoting green surfaces in May

The main venue for the various activities and admission-free events will be the Green Capital of Europe information office in front of the town hall.

The city administration will present a project on renewal of degraded urban surfaces, while visitors will be able to learn about urban gardening and farming.

A campaign against ragweed Gloves on! will also get under way.

Deputy mayor Janez Koželj will present the Association of Green Supervisors, whose president he is, on 10 May. The association promotes the idea that every individual contributes to the image of the city.

Architect Igor Cotič will present a concept for revival of a degraded area along the Sava River on 20 May.

A day later, a presentation of the European project Life - Ljubljanica connects will be held. The goal of the project was to improve the conditions for migration of fish in Ljubljanica and thus help preserve some of the endangered fish species.

On 24 May, the European Day of Parks, two workshops will be organised, one focussing on forest trees and the other on birds and other small animals of the forest. The former will be set up by the Technical Museum and the latter by the Forestry Institute.

On 30 May, the annual Green Week, sponsored by the European Commission, will start. The events, organised as part of the campaign, will promote smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in Europe.
