The funds will be available under the Guarantees for Youth scheme, with the government saying the focus will be on those who really need the help to enter the labour market.

According to a proposal published on the government's website, the scheme will also focus on systemic measures with long-term effects, such as overhauling internship and apprenticeship systems.

Under the proposal, the government also envisages tackling the increasing share of precarious forms of work, training and retraining the unemployed young as well as an overhauled programme of project learning.

The government believes that the funds from the European Social Fund will help it ensure quality and lasting employment to the young. It also plans to promote the employment of the long-term unemployed among the young, enlist them in public works and support them when entering the labour market.

The government also plans to help the young when they open their own business by providing a supporting environment, training, counselling and mentorship, as well as those who want to develop agricultural activities through the Young in the Countryside project.
