The two faculties are already cooperating with Mahle Letrika and Letrika Lab in scientific and industrial research.

Electrical Engineering Faculty Dean Igor Papič said on the occasion of Tuesday's signing of the letter that the faculty "pays special attention to transfer of technologies in cooperation with industry."

In this manner the faculty generates up to 20% of its annual revenue, he said, adding that the letter was only "a formal start of the cooperation between the Mahle Group and the University of Ljubljana."

Mechanical Engineering Faculty Dean Branko Širok noted that the two faculties carried out joint projects in order to solve complex problems, and expressed hope that the letter would "open a nice opportunity for intensive cooperation".

Thomas Kohlbauer of Mahle Letrika expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the two faculties, saying that cooperating with educational institutions was always a "step forward".

As one of the leading cars industry suppliers, the German giant Mahle has development centres in 15 countries, including in Slovenia's Šempeter pri Gorici.
