Ljubljana and Zagreb stock exchanges happy with investor day

Gažić noted that the considerable interest from investors despite worrying trends on the capital markets made the event satisfying.

Chairman of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange operator Andrej Šketa moreover stressed that today's interest confirmed the region's potential for growth. "It is an opportunity for other companies to finance growth and investment projects through the capital market."

Seven listed companies from Slovenia, including pharma company Krka and energy group Petrol, and six listed companies from Croatia, such as telco Hrvatski telekom and food group Podravka, were presented at the event in Croatia's capital on Tuesday. Apart from presentation, the event had over 160 individual and group meetings scheduled, up 25% from last year.

According to stock market analyst for Alta Sašo Stanovnik, Slovenian insurance companies are interesting for investors, having surprised with high earnings over the past few years.

"Shares of insurer Zavarovalnica Triglav and reinsurer Sava RE are among the most interesting on the Slovenian market, although other, more interesting but overlooked stocks exist as well."

Gažić moreover confirmed that the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, which is owned by the stock market operator from Zagreb, will be the first of potential candidates to join the SEE Link, a regional platform for trading securities listed on the Bulgarian, Croatian and Macedonian stock exchanges.
