App maker talks start-ups in SE Europe at business summit
Summit 100 is taking place under the slogan A New Deal for a New Age.
Login said that the biggest mistake start-up companies make was limiting themselves to the local market. Companies must make plans for when they enter foreign markets as soon as possible, he added.
According to him, the team at his Outfit7 did not want to limit itself this way, though the creation of Talking Tom was a result of a series of coincidences. A successful business idea requires a well-organised team of creators with the same goals, he explained.
He also said that it is very hard to hire foreigners in Slovenia due to bureaucratic barriers, which do not exist in other EU member states, such as Cyprus, where Outfit7 has one of its offices.
"The region could have more start-up companies if countries regulated them more systematically, like in Finland, where business angels helped young people with ideas start their own business," Login told the STA.
South-East Europe has the same conditions for start-up companies as any other region in the world, he said, mentioning that several successful start-up companies existed in Croatia and Serbia.
The summit of business people from SE European will be attended also by Slovenian Economic Development and Technology Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, who will on Saturday take part in a panel debate on introducing the free movement of goods and persons by removing customs barriers, lifting the EU's visa regime to increase tourism, and on the free movement of workers.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is hosting Summit 100, one of the biggest business events in SE Europe, for the first time. Similar events have so far taken place in Slovenia (last year), Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia. The event is being attended by more than 150 leading business people and other guests, the organisers said.
Summit 100 will close with a plenary panel, which will be attended by state leaders taking part in the Brdo-Brijuni process of regional cooperation, among them Slovenian President Borut Pahor. The Brdo-Brijuni Process summit will also take place in Sarajevo, lasting until Sunday.
