SMG theatre marks 60th anniversary with an exhibition
Visitors can read quotes by theatre founder Balbina Battelino Baranovič and of other directors, art directors and experts on the life, energy and role of the theatre from its establishment on, the SMG writes.
Photographs of the theatre's plays and other events are displayed on the banks of the Ljubljanica river at Krakovski nasip, depicting the aesthetic revolutions lead by artistic teams which put the SMG theatre on the map.
The exhibition runs under the title Has the Future Already Arrived?, which former art director Dušan Jovanović picked as the slogan for the SMG ensemble's tour of France in the 1980s.
According to the SMG, the meaning of the slogan is significant as "[the theatre] is oriented towards the future and proud of [its] present".
The exhibition was created by SMG director Tibor Mihelič Syed, assistant Tina Malič and dramaturge Tomaž Toporišič.
The SMG theatre was established in 1955 as the first professional theatre for children and youths in Slovenia. Today, the theatre boasts successful young directors and a talented acting ensemble.
