Slovenia sent the damage report to Brussels.Židan said that producers filed damage claims in the total of EUR 321,594. However, the sum was reduced, as not all claims met the European Commission's criteria for the recent E.coli outbreak compensations.

Apart from salad production compensation, Slovenia's claim also includes tomatoes (EUR 537), cucumbers (EUR 10,324) and sweet paprika (EUR 2,997). Slovenia's producers also suffered EUR 2,076 in damage upon the withdrawal of cucumbers from the stores.

The minister said that unofficial information suggests that the compensation claims from EU members will not reach EUR 210m that had been earmarked to help the EU vegetable producers cope with the losses incurred by the May E.coli outbreak in Germany and several other countries.
