Green Capital all about biodiversity and bees in July
Citizens are invited to participate in workshops organised by the local authorities, while Saturdays will be reserved for open-air markets selling honey products.
Visitors of the city centre will be acquainted with the flora and fauna of the Ljubljana area, including butterflies, bats, amphibians, birds and bees at stands put in front of the City Hall.
The July programme will start on Friday afternoon with a lecture by experts in nature protection who will present the importance of biodiversity and bees for the Slovenian capital.
Workshops for children and adults will also be organised in other parts of the city, including Rudnik and Rožnik, whose local communities have been declared the green ambassadors of the project in July.
On Saturdays, visitors will be able to buy certified honey produced in the Ljubljana area, while the three most bee-friendly municipalities in Slovenia - Ljubljana, Idrija and Laško, will also be presented.
An exhibition on biodiversity in the Ljubljana area will also be held in the City Hall between 18 and 31 July.
