Thousands of candles to light up Bled
Bled Days attract many visitors to the lakeside resort every year with a display of local handicrafts and open-air concerts. They culminate in Bled Night, when volunteers place about 15,000 candles in eggshells on the surface of Lake Bled.
The candles are made by one of the locals, Andrej Vidic. They take a few months to make, and he gets the eggshells from the local cake shop which gathers them all year round.
This year's music programme caters to all generations, ranging from a brass band, performing from a platform on the lake, to the winners of a local music competition and Slovenian Eurovision contestant ManuElla.
On Sunday, several workshops and plays will be organized for children, and the evening will end with Slovenian folk music.
From Friday to Sunday, visitors will be able to taste local delicacies, labelled with the destination trade mark Taste Bled and made with fresh and seasonal ingredients.
Taste Bled will continue at the Bled promenade during the Okarina world music festival taking place between 26 July and 7 August.
