The visit is organised by the Ministry of Public Administration, the Slovenian AmCham and the SPIRIT investment promotion agency.

It will focus on companies which develop new business models which are becoming increasingly popular in the world, and which Slovenia sees as an opportunity for a business and technological breakthrough, the ministry has told the STA.

The visit will also be another opportunity to promote Slovenia as "a green reference country in digital Europe", like during a similar government visit to the US last December.

The Silicon Valley will be the final destination this time too, with the government delegation meeting the business delegation there.

Last December, a government and business delegation headed by Prime Minister Miro Cerar visited the headquarters of key ICT companies in the US, such as IBM, EMC, Oracle, Cisco and Microsoft.

The aim was to trigger interest of large global corporations in Slovenia, which can offer an excellent environment for development and partnership in introducing IT solutions in public systems, the ministry said.

Concrete projects based on last year's visit to the US are already being developed, and they will be upgraded with new projects after the September visit, it added.
