Salgado's Genesis magnet for visitors
Janja Buzečan, a spokesperson for Ljubljana's Galleries and Museums, has told the STA that the turnout at the exhibition, which has been on show since 31 May, exceeded their expectations. This is why they are thinking about extending the show beyond the planned closing date on 31 August.
She said the visitors were enthusiastic too, enraptured by the beautiful photos and inspired by the message of the show, which is held as part of Ljubljana's stint as the European Green Capital.
As proof she cited the great number of love letters the visitors have written to the planet and attached to a symbolic tree in the museum's atrium.
The museum and the gallery are also happy with the response to accompanying events. The screening of the documentary The Salt of the Earth in Tivoli Park on 1 July drew an audience of 630 people.
The exhibition features 245 black and white photographs of plants, animals, landscapes, seascapes, and aboriginal people, through which Salgado raises awareness of environmental and climate change.
