EOC president Pat Hickey temporarily pulled out from the post today after he was arrested by the Brazilian authorities in Rio de Janeiro over suspicion of illegal sale of Olympic Games tickets.

Kocijančič took over as the acting president by virtue of holding the post of vice-president. He has been a member of the EOC executive committee since 2005 and its vice-president since 2013.

The 74-year-old is also a vice-president of the International Ski Federation (FIS). He has been a member of the FIS presidency since 1981 and its vice-president since 2010.

The former president of the Slovenian Olympic Committee with a 23-year tenure was a recipient of the Bloudek Prize, the highest national accolade in sports, in 1985.
