Petrol dropped two places from last year, its sales having declined by about 5% to EUR 3.8bn in contrast to the overall positive trend in the region.

Only two more groups from Slovenia make the top 100.

Retailer Mercator climbed two places to 48th with sales of EUR 2.6bn, while energy trader Gen-I jumped 49 places to 90th with annual sales increasing by almost a third to EUR 1.7bn.

The top of the rankings remains unchanged, with Polish oil company PKN Orlen by far the biggest group with sales of EUR 21bn, followed by Hungarian rival MOL with EUR 13bn.

Deloitte also compiled lists of the 50 biggest banks and insurers in the region.

NLB is the only Slovenian entry among banks, having slipped one spot to 19th.

Among insurers, on the other hand, five of the top 50 are based in Slovenia. Triglav is in sixth place, Sava Re at 13th and Adriatic Slovenica at 28th.

The rankings were released by the consultancy Deloitte on Thursday.
