The share of those with a second-degree tertiary education is also higher than the average.

The report compares education in the 35 OECD members and partner countries Argentina, Brazil, China, Columbia, Costa Rica, India, Indonesia, Lithuania, Russia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.

According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Slovenia stands out for its share of the young enrolled in education.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate among those aged between 25 and 34 with tertiary education increased in the 2005-2025 period from 5.1% to 10.5%.

But Slovenia nevertheless remains above the OECD average in terms of the value of tertiary education on the labour market.

Adults with tertiary education on average earn 72% more than those with just secondary education. The OECD average is 55%.

While in general more women than men finish tertiary education, but fewer women continue their studies, in Slovenia the share of women among PhD holders in 2014 was 57%, which is 10% more than the OECD average.

In general, education spending dropped by 0.1% in the crisis years 2008-2013. In Slovenia, 4.5% of GDP was allocated for education in 2013, while the OECD average was 4.8%.
