Houston, We Have A Problem! declared best Slovenian film
The Vesna for best director went to Damjan Kozole.
The jury praised the winning film for "making us think about the uncritical awarding of credibility and authenticity to content merely on the bases of a form of discourse that we associate with the truth".
Houston, We Have A Problem! was directed by Žiga Virc and also made it to the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and this year's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
A very successful year is also continuing for Kozole, one of Slovenia's internationally most acclaimed directors.
He picked up the best director award for Nightlife (Nočno življenje) as well as the Vesna for best documentary for Meje (Borders).
According to the FSF jury, Nightlife also featured the best female performance, delivered by Pia Zemljč, and the best set design.
The award for best leading performance by a male actor went to Houston's Ivan Pavić, also known as Božidar Smiljanić.
Other prestigious awards included the honour of the Slovenian film critics, conferred in Slovenia's arguably most original director Vlado Škafar for his latest feature film Mother (Mama)
The special achievement award was meanwhile given to director Igor Šterk for his feature comeback Come along (Pojdi z mano).
Moreover, Bonne Appetit, Life (Dober tek, življenje) by Urška Djukić received the award for best short film.
This year's FSF featured 98 films, breaking last year's record by one film. Most were however short, which festival director Igor Prassel said was indicative of a rise of young directors.
The FSF also broke last year's record of submitted films by 20, as 167 films were initially submitted to the festival.
The jury selected 98 films, 52 of which were included in the festival's competition programme. The competition programme included 14 feature-length films.
