Slovenia committed to strengthening cooperation within 16+1 initiative
He highlighted new technologies, research and development, and innovation as Slovenia's priorities.
Labelling the initiative an example of successful cooperation, the prime minister listed a number of joint projects Slovenian and Chinese companies had embarked on in various fields recently, including in civil aviation.
Just today, Cerar attended on the sidelines of the summit the signing of a contract between Slovenian maker of ultralight aircraft Pipistrel and Chinese company Sino GA Group Co on the transfer of know-how and the establishment of a joint electric plane production plant.
The prime minister congratulated Pipistrel boss Ivo Boscarol for "the exceptional achievement" and called him "one of the best ambassadors of Slovenia", the PM's office said in a press release.
Meanwhile, Cerar also called attention to Slovenia hosting next year the 12th forum on agricultural produce trade within the initiative. He highlighted the strengthened cooperation with China in the field, saying that exports of agro products to China were a great opportunity for Slovenia.
What is more, Slovenian experience in organising top-level sports events is also an opportunity for deepening ties between the two countries, the prime minister said, pointing to the preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympics in China, particularly in ski jumping infrastructure.
A declaration on the cooperation of ports in the Adriatic, the Baltic and the Black Sea was also adopted in Riga, which Cerar believes will have positive effects.
