Ukrainian President Poroshenko pays official visit
Bilateral political and economic ties will top the agenda, but the presidents will also discuss EU-Ukraine relations, the reform process in the country, the situation in the region, and the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
Poroshenko will be received with military honours by President Borut Pahor and the pair will sign a joint statement reiterating the commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Several intergovernmental agreements will be signed as well.
He will also be received by Prime Minister Miro Cerar, parliamentary Speaker Milan Brglez and Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković, and visit the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for a meeting with business executives.
As part of the visit, Pahor and Poroshenko will inaugurate at Navje Cemetery in Ljubljana a "bench of friendship", a tradition started by the Slovenian president that involves installing special benches when he receives foreign statesmen.
At Navje, the pair will also unveil a monument to Hryhorii Skovoroda, an 18th-century Ukrainian philosopher, poet and teacher.
A protest "against Nazism in Ukraine" is expected in Ljubljana's Prešeren Square, organised by a pro-Russian Facebook group calling themselves "Slovenia's solidarity with anti-fascist Donbass".
