Slovenian banks' cumulative net profit at EUR 291m in 9 months
According to the latest monthly report released by Banka Slovenije on Tuesday, banks recorded EUR 39.4m in impairments and provisions in the first nine months of this year, while the figure stood at EUR 157.1m in the same period of 2015.
Cumulative gross revenue in the January-September period was up 1.2% to EUR 863.2m, as net interest was down 9.6% to EUR 507.1m and non-interest revenue increased by 21.9% to EUR 356.1m.
Operating costs amounted to EUR 489.9m, which is 1.8% less than in the same period last year.
Total assets of the banking system contracted by 2.7% year-on-year to EUR 36.3bn at the end of September. From the beginning of the year, the figure fell by EUR 1.09bn.
The total amount of loans to the non-banking sector decreased by 4.3% year-on-year to EUR 19.6bn at the end of September.
The decline in loans to businesses continues to slow down, but the amount was still 9.7% lower on the annual basis.
Meanwhile, loans to households continue to pick up, and the total amount was 2.6% higher year-on-year after three quarters of the year.
On the other hand, deposits by the non-banking sector grew by 1.9% year-on-year to EUR 25.35bn.
Deposits by households, the most important source of cash for banks in Slovenia, grew by 5.9% compared to September last year, while corporate deposits were 8.4% higher.
