Yesterday's victory came after Štuhec surprisingly won the first downhill race for women in the 2016/2017 season on Friday with a bib number 29.

With a bib number 4, Štuhec had best half-times on Saturday, winning at 1:24.95, ahead of Lara Gut of Switzerland, who clocked in 1:25.06.

Hungary's Edit Miklos was third in 1:25.38.

Štuhec's flawless performance seems to be a result of an extremely good shape and the confidence stemming from Friday's victory.

Weather also contributed to the excellent result; after she outperformed all three rivals, clouds started rolling in making the course much slower.

Having her mother Darja Črnko on the team seems to be working very well; she is Ilka's ski tech, driver and team boss.

"It seems I've done all parts of the race excellently...perhaps there were some minor things that could have been better, but the overall performance seemed to be fast enough," Štuhec was quoted as saying by the Slovenian Ski Association.

"Just like yesterday [Friday], I mostly wanted to have 'fun' and show that I've been doing quite well lately," she added.

Commenting on two downhill wins, she said the Friday one meant more to her. "It was more beautiful to step on the podium yesterday, but today was also great," she said.

Štuhec, a student of economics from the city of Maribor, was youth world champion twice, in downhill (2008) and slalom (2007).

Her best World Cup result before Lake Louise was fourth place in super-G in Beaver Creek three years ago, while she was fifth in downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen last March. In December 2011, she finished sixth in downhill in Lake Louise.

Her best Olympic achievements were 10th place in downhill and 13th in super-G at the Sochi Games in 2014.

Štuhec's latest win is the 74th World Cup victory for Slovenia, 51st for women and eighth in downhill.
