9,100 new jobs projected for first half of 2017
The service conducted a survey among employers employing at least 10 staff or a total of 343,000 people. They said that their companies would need 22,300 workers over the next six months. Part of the figure will be replacements and part new jobs.
The biggest growth is projected in the statistical category other business activities, which includes staffing agencies, security, cleaning and lease of cars and equipment.
Also upbeat are projections by employers in transport and warehousing, catering, scientific and technical activities, retail, information and communication and manufacturing.
Meanwhile, a decline in employment is expected in water supply, sewerage and waste treatment and environmental remedy activities, electricity, gas and steam supply, farming, forestry and fisheries.
The demand will be mainly for simple jobs in manufacturing, articulated vehicle drivers, shop assistants, welders, tool makers, cleaners, kitchen hands, security guards, masons, salesmen and cooks.
