Lively New Year's celebrations around Slovenia
On the liveliest night of the year, Ljubljana will tender to various tastes at the same time at four different open-air venues, and prepare fireworks from the city castle at midnight.
The main stage will be set up in Congress Square, where Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković will raise a toast to the New Year, and which will feature pop-oompah band Modrijani.
Different concerts ranging from popular music to rock and swing will also be staged at three other city squares.
In the capital, public transportation will operate on six lines throughout the night.
Children will also get their own share of the celebrations in Ljubljana, where they will have a concert and a visit by Father Frost in the afternoon.
Maribor, which saw 10,000 people take part in last year's open-air celebration, will host a concert in Leon Štukelj Square by two generations of Slovenian popular music singers, with the younger generation represented by Tanja Žagar and the more experienced one by veteran diva Helena Blagne.
Open-air celebrations will also be organised in other cities and towns around the country, including Celje, Ptuj, Koper, Kranj, Novo mesto and Nova Gorica.
New Year's Eve will also not go past hospitals, retirement homes and prisons around Slovenia unnoticed. There people will celebrate the occasion with festive meals and gatherings.
