The main festival stage will be set up in the central Leon Štukelj square and is set to host La Traviata opera and the Faun-Carmen-Bolero ballet performance by the SNG Maribor Theatre, one of the festival's most important partners.

Another important feature will be the festival's first foreign musical - the famous creation by Andrew Lloyd Weber, Jesus Christ Superstar, performed by the Brno City Theatre.

The Leon Štukelj square will also host the opening and closing ceremonies of the Folkart folklore festival, featuring folklore groups from Cuba, Botswana, Georgia, Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria and of course Slovenia.

The festival's main attraction will be Irish musician Bob Geldof. Other performers include S.A.R.S, The Real McKenzies, GoGo Penguin, Hot 8 Brass Band, Pharoah Sanders Quartet, Omar Sosa Quarteto Afeocubano, Psihomodo Pop, Zabranjeno pušenje and Iztok Mlakar.

The visitors will be able to see a magnificent fireworks display and enjoy street food at Sladolent. The Maribor city park will provide fun for families and children, while sport and stand up enthusiasts will also be taken care of.

"For the last 25 years, we have been bringing our city to life and making sure to cater to all tastes," the Maribor National Hall director Vladimir Rukavina told a press conference on Thursday.

The ticket prices remain unchanged. "We are sticking to what we started 25 years ago - bringing culture to people in an affordable way," Rukavina added.

The Lent Festival used to be known for its floating stage, set up on the river Drava. Next year the Maribor municipality is planning to start building a permanent floating stage in the bay by the Drava Water Tower.
