Delegation of Austrian Chamber of Commerce pay official visit in Slovenia
In focus Ptuj, Ljubljana and Koper
The Business delegation starts its mission in Ptuj, where Mark Metal d.o.o., subsidiary of the Austrian company Mark Metallwarenfabrik GmbH from Spital am Pyhrn, is opening a new plant. The company, which is specialized in producing small parts for the automotive industry, intends to expand its business and thereby create, in the medium term, more than 200 new jobs.
The visit will continue in Ljubljana, where the delegation will meet with the Slovenian decisionmakers and obtain important information on infrastructure projects and the possibilities of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
The third part of the visit will take place at the port of Koper. Luka Koper is the most important port of the Austrian economy - one third of goods handled in the port of Koper are Austrian. For comparison: the Port of Koper is handling more than 6.5 million tons of cargo for the Austrian economy in the year, the Port of Rotterdam only approximately 3.5 million tons.
The two-day visit will end on Wednesday afternoon with an Austrian-Slovenian business forum and bilateral meetings (B2B) between the Austrian and Slovenian businessmen and representatives of institutions. The aim of the forum is to promote and strengthen the business cooperation between the two countries.
Participants at the meeting will also be greeted by the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and the President of the Republic of Austria Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, who will also be on an official visit in Slovenia.
At this official visit there is also planned to sign a contract between the companies Deltabloc d.o.o., subsidiary of the Austrian company Delta Bloc International GmbH, and Kolektor CPG d.d., which will provide the reconstruction of two sections on the Slovenian motorway (A1 Unec-Postojna and H4 Ajdovščina-Selo-Vogrsko) worth about 3 million euros.
More than 40 representatives of top Austrian companies in Slovenia
The economic delegation will consist of representatives from more than 40 internationally successful Austrian companies. Many of them are already present in Slovenia, others are planning to enter the Slovenian market. With the visit the Austrian Chamber of Commerce wants to consolidate and strengthen the economic and other cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of logistics and infrastructure.
Austria is the largest foreign investor in Slovenia
Austria is with investments by approximately 3.4 billion euros by far the largest foreign investor in Slovenia. In Slovenia there are currently approximately 700 companies with majority Austrian capital, which employ more than 20.000 people. Economic cooperation between Slovenia and Austria is strongly intertwined; foreign trade between the two countries is at a high level and continues to develop well. Austria is at the import as well as at the export the third most important trade partner of Slovenia.
