Logistics company Intereuropa celebrating 70th anniversary
"Intereuropa is marking 70 years of operations and development, which included some flops, but also major jumps. These were primarily the years of constant dedication to implementing the vision of being a top provider of comprehensive logistical solutions," the company said ahead of today's anniversary ceremony in Portorož.
According to the company's website, Intereuropa provides a comprehensive range of logistics services covering three key areas - land transport, intercontinental transport and logistics solutions, including warehousing and distribution.
The company recorded the fastest growth in the 1965-1990 period, when it opened branches in all major cities of the former Yugoslavia. It was privatised in 1995, and listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange in 1998.
Intereuropa owns more than 110 delivery vehicles, 232,400 m2 of warehouses and 1.67 million m2 of land. It is a member of numerous international organisations and international logistic networks, including the WCA World and the FETA Freight Systems International.
The company, which suffered a number of setbacks over failed investments in the past, including in a logistics centre in Russia, has been recovering lately under the chairmanship of Ernest Gortan, recording positive numbers and reducing debt.
In the first quarter of the year, Intereuropa generated EUR 35.4m in sales revenues, up 5% compared to the same period in 2016, while net profit was up 27% to EUR 0.9m.
The company reduced its debt by EUR 17.2m last year, with the net financial debt standing at EUR 73.1m at the end of this March.
According to chief supervisor Klemen Boštjančič, Intereuropa is expected to be an "absolutely normally indebted company" in one to two years.
