The control computer malfunction was repaired and now all systems are being tested, so the gondola should be fully operating again on Tuesday.

The gondola ground to a halt at 8:05 AM on Sunday, leaving 28 people stranded. After the attempts of the technicians to get the system running again failed, rescue services were called to help the passengers.

Two rescue teams helped eight people get out of the gondolas before the lift was partly operational again, so the remaining passengers could be brought to an intermediate station.

A total of 56 firefighters and rescuers and 21 vehicles were involved in the rescue operation, the ski lift operator Sončni Kanin said today.

The lift to the highest ski resort in Slovenia was reopened last autumn after extensive repair works.

It has also been used this summer, with a total of 1,600 tourists being brought to and from Mount Kanin in June.
