Street theatre festival comes to Ljubljana
Celebrating its 20th year, the festival will take place in the capital's main avenue in the city centre that has been closed for cars and is now a shared space for buses, cyclists and pedestrians. The festival will therefore "fulfil its mission of being Ljubljana's living room", the organisers say.
Hosting 38 street artists and groups from 15 countries, the festival will feature 41 shows and other events. One of the founders of Ana Desetnica, Goro Osojnik, told the STA that the festival would focus on the concept of the two sides of the street in the capital.
"The urban space will show its two faces: it will invite people to come to the festival, to bring tables and chairs, to have a picnic and really use the space as their living room, as a space of socialising."
According to Osojnik, the programme of the festival is versatile and international as well as a bit more theatre-like, as there will be "less juggling and more interactive and walking shows".
The pan-Slovenian Ana Desetnica is underway in 13 towns across Slovenia from 24 June until 8 July. It started at the Lent festival in Maribor and continued in Kranj, Ilirska Bistrica, Novo mesto, Kočevje and Šmartno.
As of today it will also occupy Šoštanj, Nova Gorica, Radovljica, Sežana, Krško and Škofja Loka.
