Slovenia below EU average by share of ICT employees
According to the report, the number of employed ICT experts has been growing constantly since 2011 together with the development of the digital world. In the EU their number was up by 1.8 million in the 2011-2016 period.
A total of 8.2 million ICT experts were employed in the EU last year, with a vast majority of them being men (83.3%).
According to Eurostat, a number of EU member states had problems in filling ICT job vacancies, with Slovenia being close to the top.
The share of companies which had difficulties in employing or trying to employ an ICT expert was the biggest in the Czech Republic (66%), followed by Slovenia (63%), and Luxembourg and Austria (61% each).
More than a half of all employees in the ICT sector in the EU came from three member states - the United Kingdom (1.6 million), Germany (1.5 million) and France (one million).
