Daily "Vecer" - tourism should be more decentralised
Slovenian tourism organisations and tour operators actually promote Ljubljana, Gorenjsko with the flagships Bled and Bohinj, the Postojna cave, Lipica and coastal cities.
The culturally rich and interesting Slovenj Gradec is not among them, and neither are Murska Sobota or Lendava, the paper says in You Don't Know, You Don't Come.
But the situation is not just the result of a biased promotion, it is just as easy to prove that these localities themselves are incapable of presenting their sites and hospitality.
Why do Pohorje and Maribor not leverage their potentials, or the sun-drenched Slovenske gorice and Haloze; ironically, most of the wine from these two areas is drink in Ljubljana, not Ptuj, Ormož or Ljutomer.
Perhaps these places should simply demand a bigger piece of the pie from incoming agencies, but more importantly, they should roll up the sleeves themselves, the paper concludes.
