The opening concert will take place in St. George's Parish Church in Piran with the performance featuring the Italian Sergio Azzolini on the bassoon and Serbian violinist Stanko Madić playing the famous violin of Piran-born composer Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770) as the highlight of the festival. The ensemble will perform again on Saturday in Piran's Franciscan monastery.
The programme includes a concert by French pianist Michel Bourdoncle on Monday, 21 August. On Wednesday, 23 August the Tartini Junior programme will present the up-and-coming Slovenian conductor Mojca Lavrenčič.
The festival will host for the first time the Croatian Baroque Ensemble, which will perform pieces by big names such as Telemann as well as Tartini himself on 28 August.
Another highlight will be the Italian chamber orchestra I Solisti Veneti, which was founded in 1955 in Padua and has performed more than 6,000 concerts to this day. The orchestra will interpret compositions by Vivaldi, Tartini, Rossini and Paganini.
On 1 September, Milano-born soloist, conductor, composer and lecturer Vittorio Ghielmi will interpret compositions of 17th century European music at Tartini's house.
The Salzburg Baroque Trio will perform the festival's last concert, which will take place at the Franciscan monastery on Sunday, 3 September.
The programme also features several workshops, including one led by Sergio Azzolini.
