Pulitzer winner in Slovenia for Science Communication Days
Blum is one of the most acclaimed science writers in the US, a former president of the National Association of Science Writers and has served as a member of the governing board of the World Federation of Science Writers.
She is currently in charge of the Knight Science Journalism Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has written five books, including The Poisoner's Handbook and Love at Goon Park.
The Science Communication Days will start this evening with a reception and debate focusing on the role science plays in society, the media and with decision makers.
Tomorrow morning, Blum will give a science writing workshop for journalists and editors, while in the afternoon, she will give a workshop on how to communicate science to the public for researchers.
Blum's visit to Slovenia will conclude with a workshop on media skills for researchers co-hosted by TV Slovenija journalist Igor E. Bergant on Wednesday.
The Science Communication Days have its roots in Communicate Science, a project the Research Agency launched in 2014.
As part of the project, the agency brought to Slovenia to host workshops for writers and researchers Ian Sample, a science writer for The Guardian, Vivienne Parry, the science editor at BBC Radio 4, and George Johnson, a columnist for the New York Times.
