Marko Brdnik, on accordion, will accompany the band's core members: Vesna Zornik, Polono Janezic, Bostjana Gombaca, Tiborja Mihelica, Bostjana Narata and Roberta Rebolja; Vlado Kreslin will cameo, alongside Pritrkovalci iz Smarja-Sapa and the choir Zagrebski decki. With their third album, Katalena remain faithful to their creativity; they are still turning to Slovene folk music for inspiration. But, there have been some changes since the first two albums, such as higher conceptuality, alternating moods through changing basic themes, and a more authorial approach to composition (some songs are entirely their own). Katalena still bring Slovene folk songs into the centre of attention. Katalena was founded during the summer of 2001 in Crmosnjice. The band's main focus is the Slovene folk music tradition, which they rearrange and perform in an original way. The essence of their creativity is a firm belief in the endlessness of folk music. Katalena have had a few very notable appearances. In 2003, they performed in studio 14 at Radio Slovenia, which was broadcasted on the national television. They played at festivals Lent, Koupa, Alpent"ne in Switzerland, etc. The same year, in May, they performed at Krizanke with Back of the Moon from Scotland and Terra Folk. The event was taped by Scottish radio, BBC 4 and TV Slovenia. In the fall of 2004, they made their fifth video, "Pobelelo polje z ovcama," which won "song of the week" title at the end of July on radio Val 202. This was the band's third song to win this title. In 2005, Katalena went to Berlin and have in this way expanded their international presence to Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, Italy, and Germany. In April 2006, they are preparing an educational program, through which the band's members will present their vision of folk music to a younger generation.
