Dončić continues to bring Slovenia and US closer together

"It is because of the excellence of our young sport ace that the Mavericks have come up with a special offer for partnership with Slovenia, which brings numerous opportunities," the Government Communication Office (UKOM) announced on Monday.

In addition to UKOM, the Slovenian partners are the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO), the SPIRIT public agency for the promotion of tourism, internationalisation, foreign investment and technology, and Ljubljana Tourism.

The Mavericks have authorised the communication company Sport Media Focus to conclude a partnership for promotional activities connected to their match between with the Denver Nuggets on 11 March 2020 and other activities of the club.

According to UKOM, the partnership includes the promotion and display of the national tourism brand "I feel Slovenia" in ten home games of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2019/20 season and in ten home games in the next season.

Slovenia will also be presented as a country and tourist destination during the half-time of the NBA game, and the partners will be provided a platform to promote themselves at the event and elsewhere.

The main objective of the partnership is to promote Slovenia as a whole and the national tourism brand, as well as to present the economic, investment and tourism opportunities the country offers, UKOM said.

It added that in cooperation with AmCham Slovenija, a business conference will be held on 12 March in Texas, the 10th largest economy in the world, as an opportunity for Slovenian and US companies to strike partnerships.

Tomaž Ambrožič, the director of Sport Media Focus, said Slovenia had "never had the kind of story that we are getting with Luka Dončić" and that the Mavericks recognised Slovenia as an interesting country.

Details of the partnership between Slovenia and the Texas team will be presented at a media event on 16 January.
