The Hague - Foreign Minister Anže Logar met his counterpart Stefan Blok as part of his working visit to the Netherlands on Tuesday to discuss cooperation, Slovenia's EU presidency, and topical issues. Logar expressed interest in strengthening economic cooperation between Slovenia and the Netherlands, especially in digitalisation and green technology.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the officials confirmed the very good and friendly relations between the two countries, calling for further strengthening of cooperation in the areas of joint interest.

Logar said Slovenia would like to increase business cooperation, and highlighted digitalisation and green technology as the key areas for this.

The Netherlands is Slovenia's important trading partner, ranking tenth in terms of trade, which stands at EUR 1.6 billion. With EUR 1.2 billion in direct investment it is also sixth most important foreign investor in Slovenia.

Logar presented Slovenia's priorities for its upcoming EU presidency in the second half of next year to Blok and welcomed the compromise reached at the last meeting of the European Council regarding the distribution of funds for recovery after the pandemic.

He said constructive cooperation with the Netherlands should continue, also in the light of Slovenia's EU presidency, the ministry said.

Logar and Blok also discussed migrations and the security situation in Europe and the world. They touched on the situation in the Western Balkans, East Mediterranean and Turkey.

Relations with the US, Russia and China were also on the agenda, according to the ministry.

Logar also visited the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague on Tuesday to meet OPCW Director General Fernando Arias. He also met International Criminal Court President Chile Eboe-Osuji.
