Covid-19: 7-day average drops further as hospitalisations rise
Ljubljana - Slovenia logged 147 coronavirus infections for Sunday as the 7-day average dropped further to 606. Six patients with Covid-19 died, fresh data from the government show.
A decline of 30% on the same day a week ago, Sunday's cases were confirmed from 1,310 PCR tests, for a positivity rate of 11.2%. A total of 6,794 people were screened with rapid antigen tests.
Meanwhile, the number of patients hospitalised with Covid-19 inched back above 500 after falling just below that figure yesterday.
A total of 508 were hospitalised this morning, ten more than yesterday, after only 15 were discharged, a typically low figure on a Sunday. Intensive care unit cases also increased, by five to 133.
Given more hospital discharges and a continuation of the declining trend in new infections, the country could move to the yellow tier of coronavirus restrictions in coming days. The 7-day average of new cases needs to fall below 600 and hospitalisations below 500.
The cumulative 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents fell by two more from yesterday to 423. It stands highest in the Primorsko-Notranjska region, at 659, and the lowest in Obalno-Kraška, at 239.
Data from the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) show that Slovenia has so far confirmed 246,231 coronavirus cases, of which 8,933 are estimated to be active.
Health Ministry data show that 4,601 patients with Covid-19 have died.
According to NIJZ data, 484,949 people have received the first dose of a vaccine against Covid-19 and 252,868 have received two, which represents 23.1% and 12% of the population, respectively.
