Time-honoured tradition, large number of entrants, an expert jury and widespread acclaim are the reasons why the Photography of the Year competition has grown to become the central Slovenian photo event. It aims at promoting quality Slovenian original and press photography, encouraging the discourse on issues related to photography, and bolstering its reputation with the experts, critics and the general public. These goals are achieved also by publishing the awarded oeuvres and profiling the award-winning artists in Emzin magazine.
