Tomaž Barada to head Slovenian team at 2022 Winter Olympics

Ljubljana - The executive committee of the Slovenian Olympic Committee (OKS) named on Tuesday Tomaž Barada, the president of the OKS expert committee for professional sport, the head of the Slovenian team at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, which will take place from 4 to 20 February 2022.

The current vice-president of the OKS is a former martial artist in kick boxing and taekwon-do, in which he has won six European champion and three world champion titles.

Barada was named the head of the Slovenian team for the 2022 Winter Olympics with only one vote against, while two members of the OKS executive committee abstained.

"The appointment is a great honour for me," Barada told the STA, noting that it would be a challenge to head the Winter Olympic team after the decorated former gymnast Miroslav Cerar had successfully headed the Summer Olympic team in Tokyo.

He assessed that he nevertheless had enough knowledge and experience to contribute to a successful Slovenian appearance in Beijing.
