As the sound of outer space, distance and loneliness, the composition Atmospheres became well known long before its composer, György Ligeti, achieved fame - in 1968, despite the composer's opposition, it was heard throughout the world in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Along with Ligeti the orchestra will also perform compositions by Mozart, Alan Hovhaness and Aaron Copland.
