Telekom and Eles present solution for mass charging of electric vehicles
Ljubljana - Telecoms provider Telekom Slovenije and national grid operator ELES have developed a solution for mass charging of electric vehicles which enables intelligent charging and remote control of power consumption. The energy-saving solution will be particularly suitable for businesses, they said as they presented it on Monday.
With the number of electric vehicles on Slovenian roads increasing, the need for charging stations is growing, was pointed out at today's event organised by Telekom Slovenije.
One of the key steps in an effective transition to a green future will be to establish a network of intelligent e-charging stations in Slovenia and to enable affordable charging of a large number of electric vehicles.
Companies Telekom Slovenije, ELES and NGEN held a live demonstration today in Ljubljana, showcasing the operation of a new system approach that they claim will enable companies to charge entire fleets of electric vehicles at a low cost.
The energy-saving solution will be particularly suitable for businesses with large vehicle fleets, they said. The demonstration presented the remotely controlled charging of electric vehicles at the premises of Telekom and ELES.
Uroš Salobir, the director of strategic innovation at ELES, pointed out that smart and economical charging of electric vehicles is particularly important at home and at work, where cars are plugged in for longer periods of time.
The participating companies also stressed the importance of cooperation. "Green transformation can only be successful if we work together and share the know-how," said Cvetko Sršen, president of the management board at Telekom Slovenije.
The new solution is a part of the development of the E8 infrastructure for the mass charging of electric vehicles, Telekom Slovenije added.
