Over 3,000 coronavirus cases logged for Tuesday
Ljubljana - Slovenia reported another 3,166 coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the highest daily figure since 5 January, as 38% of the PCR tests came back positive, official data shows.
Estimates by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) show the number of active cases in the country thus increased by almost 2,000 on the day before to 22,188.
The 7-day case count average has risen to 1,954 and the 14-day incidence of infections per 100,000 people increased to 1,051.
According to the national Covid tracker site, nine more Covid-19 patients died yesterday, while 526 are now treated in hospitals, including 133 in intensive care.
The Jožef Stefan Institute has calculated that infections are currently spreading at the reproduction rate of about 1.4.
NIJZ data show 56% of the population has been vaccinated with one dose and 53% have been fully inoculated.
