Brussels - PM Janez Janša held talks with European Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders on Thursday, with the government not revealing details beyond that the discussion revolved around the key dossiers of Slovenia's EU presidency. A Commission official meanwhile said that the discussion touched on Slovenia's failure to appoint its members of the EPPO.

While it was unclear from the government's release if the discussion also broached Slovenia's failure to appoint its members of the European Public Prosecutors' Office (EPPO), this was later confirmed by an European Commission official.

The source said that Commissioner Reynders and PM Janša "exchanged on the key dossiers of the Slovenian presidency" and "also discussed the Commission's rule of law report", touching upon the nominations of the European delegated prosecutors.

"Commissioner Reynders stated that he remains available to facilitate the dialogue between the EPPO and the Slovenian authorities. Solutions must be found quickly to ensure the full functioning of the EPPO," it added.

Reynders has called on the Slovenian government several times to complete the appointment, noting that Slovenia may face legal action over its failure to comply with EU law.

The meeting comes after Janša held talks last night with Council President Charles Michel dedicated to presidency dossiers as well as energy prices, migrations, the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership, the government said.

A meeting with Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi is scheduled for later today.
