Coronavirus continues to retreat; 14-day incidence below 2,000

Ljubljana - Coronavirus keeps retreating in Slovenia with Thursday's 2,364 new cases pushing the 14-day incidence below 2,000. However, official data also show the number of ICU rising to a new high as the disease claimed 17 more lives.

Data released by the government shows the number of patients in intensive care increased by a further three from what was already a record figure yesterday to 289 this morning as the overall number of hospitalised Covid-19 patients declined slightly to 1,137.

On a positive note, yesterday's tally of new infections is down by a third from the same day a week ago. It is also down by over 300 cases from the previous day.

The 7-day average of new cases dropped by 164 from the day before to 2,622 as the 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents decreased by 51 to 1,968, it follows from figures released by the National Institute of Public Health.

The number of people estimated to be actively infected has declined by over a thousand to 41,492.

The PCT test positivity rate yesterday was 36%.
