Primorje's Potential US Investors Highly Suspicious
The main Slovenia media discovered that potential US investors presented to the public by new management of the construction company Primorje are very suspicious. It seems that the investors are just smokescreen for further deconstruction of the troubled company
The ICON Capital Group is apparently only a shell company with a fake network of offices in the US, United Kingdom, France and Mexico. "ICON Capital Group is not our subleasee, neither is it located in these premises. We've never heard of this company," the papers quotes real estate company Regus, which manages the premises in the 21st floor of the office building in New York where ICON's offices are ostensibly located.
What is more, the phone numbers displayed on the company's official website do not exist, nor does the website provide any specific names. Also Primorje's prospective Italian partner, the Udine-based Patera owned by Ranko Mimović, who also owned a Slovenian namesake firm which closed in 2010.
The Slovenian Patera was headed by Darko Valenčič, who presently sits on Primorje's management board and is tipped to take the helm of the company. The Patera had recently bought a majority stake in another Slovenian builder, CPL, for about EUR 25m, but the government office for money laundering prevention suspended the transfer. The promise of EUR 30m in fresh capital from Italian firm Patera in conjunction with US investment banking firm ICON Capital Group was announced yesterday by Štefan Činč, the boss of Primorje's sole owner Primorje Holding.
