Almost 14,880 new coronavirus cases recorded on Friday
Ljubljana - A total of 14,878 new coronavirus infections were detected in Slovenia on Friday in what is the third largest number of new daily infections since the start of the epidemic. There are currently 160,899 active infections in the country, up by 7,565 from the day before, according to estimates by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).
Hospitalisations are up by seven to 726, while the number of patients in intensive care dropped by 10 to 124. Another 11 patients with Covid-19 died, the government said on Facebook.
The 7-day average of daily cases rose by 747 to 14,070 and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 people increased by 361 to 7,633. The PCR test positivity rate was at 72%.
A steep rise in new cases was recorded this week as the highest daily figure since the start of the pandemic was confirmed on Tuesday with almost 17,500 new cases.
