Slovenia's daily coronavirus count at seven-week low
Ljubljana - A total of 2,267 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Slovenia on Saturday, the lowest daily tally in the Omicron-driven wave of infections, official figures show.
According to the National Institute of Public Health, the 7-day average of new daily cases has dropped to 4,248, down by 286 from the day before, and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 fell to 3,942, down by 248.
An estimated 83,177 cases are still active, more than 5,000 fewer than the estimate the day before.
According to the table released by the Health Ministry, Saturday's tally is the lowest recorded since 2 January. It is 40% below Friday's count and down by 47% from the figure reported a week ago.
The cases yesterday were picked up from 1,125 PCR tests and 56,949 rapid antigen tests.
The number of patients in hospitals increased somewhat, which is typical at the weekend, and 19 more patients with confirmed infection died, government data shows.
This morning 518 patients were treated in hospital for Covid as their main condition, including 100 in intensive care. This is up by 23 and three, respectively, from yesterday. A total of 844 patients with confirmed infection are hospitalised.
