The ministry "most fiercely" condemns in a press release "this and all other similar actions which are spreading fear among the civilian population of Syria which justifiably wants to live in peace, stability and prosperity".

According to the press release, the ministry expects a thorough investigation into the killings, so that perpetrators will be brought to justice.

The latest massacre in which Syrian pro-government forces are said to have killed about a hundred people again claimed the lives of women and children.

The ministry highlighted today that women and children were among the most vulnerable groups of civilians which should enjoy special protection under the international humanitarian law.
