Ljubljana - Slovenia confirmed 4,935 new coronavirus infections on Monday in what is the highest daily figure since mid-February. Covid cases keep climbing as the latest daily case count is up 17% week-on-week.

The 7-day average of new cases is now at 2,805 and the 14-day notification rate per 100,000 people at 1,657, up by 108 and 86, respectively, in a day, according to the National Institute of Public Health.

The estimated number of active cases has surged by some 2,000 to nearly 35,100.

The number of patients hospitalised due to Covid-19 increased to 145 this morning, of which 41 were in intensive care, down by five from yesterday.

Another two people with Covid died, government data shows.

The latest infections were picked up from 1,958 PCR tests and 17,940 rapid antigen tests.
