Ljubljana - After a two-year break due to the epidemic, a convention of fantasy and science fiction fans is taking place again at Ljubljana's convention centre Gospodarsko Razstavišče on Saturday. On the Edge of the Invisible, condensed into a single day, features lectures and panel debates as well as a so-called cosplay competition.

The convention's participants who will dress up as their favourite fantasy characters will be competing for a trip to the next cosplay competition in Zagreb, Croatia, next May, the organisers said.

The lectures planned include one by Aleš Pevc from the Ljubljana Technology Park, who will present the Metaverse, while writer and stand-up comedian Boštjan Gorenc Pižama will host an interactive SFF quiz, organised by publisher Mladinska Knjiga.

A debate will moreover look at the hugely popular The Last Wish by Polish fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski, which has been translated into Slovenian. The panel will feature the book's translator Klemen Pisk, philosopher and writer Mirt Komel and technology journalist and editor Marjan Kodelj.

The convention will also feature artists and shops stocked with sci-fi merchandise. For children, the Little Superheroes Arena will provide colouring and face-painting activities and games.
