Bled, Slovenia, June 2022: IEDC - Bled School of Management was listed 20th place in the WURI "World's Universities with Real Impact" in Entrepreneurial spirit (among TOP 50). All ranking results are available here.

The IEDC's efforts to meet the demands of its stakeholders through an entrepreneurial mind-set were rewarded through the World's Universities with Real Impact rankings because of its focus on excellence, relevance and the dynamic nature of the institution. The excellent quality of the IEDC's programs are widely recognised as being transformational and their impact and relevance addresses current and future business needs. This award recognises the IEDC's focus on being at the cutting edge of management education and acknowledges its innovative spirit, its efforts to be current and celebrates its success in the market.

WURI ("World's Universities with Real Impact") is a university ranking system that evaluates universities' real impact and contribution to society. WURI evaluates and ranks creative and innovative approaches to university research and education that focus on:

  • Industrial applications, rather than the traditional ways of counting research papers and lecture-type teaching;
  • Value-creating start-ups and entrepreneurship, rather than a traditional focus on the number of jobs filled;
  • Social responsibility, ethics, and integrity, rather than a focus on knowledge and skills just for material success.
  • Student mobility and openness for exchange and collaboration between schools and across national borders, rather than an independent yet closed system.

We are very proud that IEDC was also listed on 30th place in Ethical value (among TOP 50) and 31th place in Crisis Management (among TOP 50) and 64th place among the WURI "World's Universities with Real Impact" (TOP 100). Since last year's results, IEDC has ranked for 4 - 6 places higher in all categories.

This adds to the long list of honours of the IEDC-Bled School of Management as an award-winning school. In 2009, the IEDC was the only institution from Central and Eastern Europe to be named among the 100 top business schools worldwide in the Aspen Institute's Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking, for having demonstrated significant leadership in integrating social, environmental and ethical issues into its MBA program. In 2012, the Executive MBA Program of IEDC-Bled School of Management was recognized by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) as one of the four most innovative MBA programs in the world, among 700 MBA programs accredited by AMBA in business schools in over 75 different countries. The IEDC-Bled School of Management won that recognition for innovation in combining the arts with leadership and management education.

In 2010, Prof. Danica Purg, IEDC President, was named International Educator of the Year by the Academy of International Business for her outstanding achievements in international business education.

 "Our mission is clear: IEDC, as an agent of change and a learning partner, is to attract the most promising executives and top managers, provide them with world class management education and other relevant services in a truly international context, inspire them for life-long-learning and prepare them to act and add value as competent and responsible transformational leaders in their organizations and society at large. IEDC strives for education with IMPACT!", says Prof. Purg.

The IEDC-Bled School of Management is the headquarters to an international management development association, CEEMAN, which connects 220 business schools from 55 countries. CEEMAN has in 2018 issued the Manifesto, to address excellence, relevance and institutional dynamics. The manifesto is regarded as the beginning of a movement and it represents the foundations needed for changes in management development and encourages schools to strive not only for excellence but also for relevance in both teaching management and research in the design of their educational programs.

IEDC-Bled School of Management has consistently taken into account the efforts for responsible leadership at the global level since its inception in 1986. Since 2018, IEDC has been one of the founders of WISE (World Institute for Sustainability and Ethics in Rising Economies), a global institute for sustainability and ethics with a focus on emerging economies.
